Find out at this fascinating Indigo and Shibori textile workshop at Arts in the Olives with renowned textile artist and teacher Ali George.

Come and make your own deep, lustrous blue pattern on lush fabrics using traditional vat dyeing and Shibori techniques.

Students will be introduced to the practice of creating Shibori.  Ali George has had many years of experience using this ancient resist dyeing method. Participants will learn various folding and resist methods to create beautiful fabrics for use in multiple projects.

From tiny knots to large clamps and tying fabrics students will enjoy creating fabrics with a vat of lush blue dye, both with pre marked fabrics and clean whites.

Suitable for ages 10 and over.

Materials cost: $10

What to bring:

Long ( kitchen) gloves….not thin food handling variety.

Some bags in which to place fabrics

Students can also bring their own cotton, rayon or silk fabrics, plain or patterned.

Closed in footwear essential!
