Magic of Glass – Felicity Smith

This all day workshop is an introduction to the magical world of glass lampshade making.

You will learn the skills required to make traditional glass lampshades. Not only will you acquire the skills of copper foiling, tack and seam soldering and piecing the glass panels but you will raise the pieced glass panels, apply the lamp fitting before antiquing and polishing your finished shade.

All your materials are of the highest quality including the American made stained glass which the 19th century glass artist Louis Comfort Tiffany made famous in his now priceless Tiffany lamps.

This workshop is not suitable for persons under the age of sixteen.

We will be using lead and soldering irons and although the hazards are low and we will be using safe work practices, we do not recommend that pregnant or nursing mothers participate.

You will take home your finished lampshade which is ready to hang from a pendant fitting or sit on a lamp base.
