ARTS IN THE OLIVES WORKSHOPS

SUNDAY CLASSES Registration from 8.00am    Morning class 9.00- 11.30 am      Afternoon Class 1.00 -3.30p

1.  Batik:Patena Moesker Full day workshops

Create a picture or a pattern. Learn about wax and dyes and wondrous colour on shimmering fabrics. Something to wear or something to frame. Patena has returned after time in Indonesia with new information and inspiration.

2. : Sculpture in Clay: Beaudesert Potters   Half day workshops

3.Basketry: Therese Flynn Clarke   Half day workshops

Create a twined basket using a variety of plant fibres with a stitched border or a  stitched basket using a variety of plant fibres and recycled materials. Workshop suitable for beginners.

4.   Rug hooking :Bec Anderson Afternoon workshop

Learn the basics of design and production of a rug using  up old sewing scraps and  clothes.  I will also put on a pot of dye to teach you how to transform  these leftovers  into a usable colour for a rug.

5 .Black Smithing: Gilbert Louttit Full day workshops-  Saturday and Sunday

This is a truly ‘by-hand’ experience of working metal. Come and play with fire for a day and see what magic you can create from steel at plastic heat. A day of fun and challenge. Take home something decorative/useful. Both days a mixture of beginners and repeat offenders. All materials and tuition provided.

6. Bookbinding with Lorraine Brown – Half day Workshops – Sunday

For beginners and those with more experience.

7.. Millefiori Bead Making: Stephanie Wernick Half day workshops

Discover the fun of making your own beads and jewellery using polymer clay (Sculpey/Fimo) and the millefiori technique.

8.  Needle Felting :Emmalisa McGhee Half day workshops

Introducing   the basic techniques of needle felting .  Come and enjoy making  your own needle felted figure out of wool.

9. Photography : Peter Williams :Afternoon  workshop – Starting 2.30 – 5.00 pm

An introduction to portraiture in our natural environment.  Using locations and natural light.  A basic introduction to subtractive lighting.

10. Crochet Fruit Brooches : Lucy-Belle Rayner Half day workshops

In this workshop you will learn the basic crochet stitches (chain, double and treble stitch) in order to complete a fruit brooch.

11. The Magic of Glass : Felicity Smith half or full day workshop

Create magical stained glass creations to take home. Choose from a range of original Australian designs and learn many of the secrets to making Tiffany style pieced works using traditional methods with master glass artist Felicity Smith.

12. Painting With Acrylics:  Dave Groom  – Full Day

Become inspired by the majestic landscape of the Scenic Rim. Learn techniques for painting with acrylics, from observation or imagination

13. Stone Sculpture : Luke Zwolsman

14. Relief Carving in Wood – Radha Pedersen

15.  Environmental Sculptural Installation : A drop in workshop where individually made pieces can contribute to a larger installation in the grove.
